Improvements in health & safety

Safety is our #1 priority

In addition to normal cleaning procedures, the Arctic Coliseum will be using Sterilaser Room Units to disinfect unoccupied locker rooms.  This is the same UV technology that Michigan hospitals are now using. Sterilaser Room Units kill 99.5% of all harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses (including Covid-19) in minutes. The addition of the Sterilaser Room units will ensure that safety continues being a priority of Arctic Coliseum and Chelsea Hockey Association.

How does UV work?

Germicidal Ultra-Violet light is absorbed by the DNA of microorganisms, which causes changes in their structure, rendering the microorganisms incapable of replicating. A cell that can't reproduce is considered dead; since it is unable to multiply to infectious numbers within a host. This is why UV disinfection is also called ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI).
