The Chelsea Hockey Association would like to thank all volunteers willing to coach our players. We appreciate the time and energy that is put into running a team. This page should help navigate through the requirements, as well as offer up information and answer questions.
If you are interested in becoming the Head Coach, please fill out the application on this page and submit to the Director of Coaching.
If you would like to be an Assistant Coach, please contact the head coach of the team you are interested in helping. An application to CHA is not required.
If you are interested in becoming a Student Coach, please fill out a Student Coach application.

All coaches over the age of 18, must have a USA Hockey number, complete a background check, take Safesport training. and finish age appropriate training Modules. The last step to becoming a certified coach is to attend a USA hockey coaching clinic. Once certified, coaches can be added to their team's roster. This applies to anyone on the ice with players.

$46 -- Valid 1 season
$30 -- Valid 2 seasons
Free -- Valid 1 season
$10 -- Only the module for the age level you are coaching is required
$50 -- See expiration table below
Free -- Valid 3 seasons
Clinics, especially for the early levels, tend to fill quickly, so coaches are encouraged to register ASAP.
CEP Certification Level is good for:
Level 1 - One (1) season
Level 2 - One (1) season
Level 3 - Two (2) seasons
Level 4 - Indefinitely
EXCEPTION: Coaches of Mite/8U or younger teams may remain at Level 1 or their current level. Coaches for Mite/8U or younger teams can coach with an expired CEP Level Certification.
The Helmet Rule for Coaches is now in effect and has been since Sept 1, 2006. The rule is a USA Hockey Rule and applies to ALL on ice Coaches at clinics, tryouts and practices. NO EXCEPTIONS! If any coach does not have the helmet strapped, USA Hockey insurance will be voided for the entire team.

Certified coaches can be reimbursed for costs incurred through the Coaching Education Program. All receipts should be submitted at one time using the CHA Coaches Reimbursement form to the Director of Finance via the drop box by the Arctic Coliseum front desk or by email (finance@chelseahockey.org)
