CHA Programs

Welcome to the Chelsea Hockey Association!

We are excited to offer the opportunity to participate on a variety of levels for the spring season of “Home Town Hockey” in Chelsea.  Home ice for CHA programs is at the Arctic Coliseum, located on Old Manchester Road just off M-52.  You can reach the CHA for questions by calling 734-433-9665 or you can send an email to info@chelseahockey.net.  You may also obtain information about CHA programs, registration information, schedules and other CHA news from our web site.


Learn to Play Hockey

Classes will be divided up into:

  • Snow Cubs (Ages 3-5)
  • Little Bulldogs (formerly Hockey 1 ages 6-15)
  • Junior Bulldogs (formerly Hockey 2 ages 6-15)

Also, new this year is the Bring a Buddy program. Any player that has a "Buddy" sign up for the class will recieve a $50.00 deduction in their class fee, for every buddy (up to 3 allowed.)

The Chelsea Hockey Association is continuing its improved Learn to Play program for the Spring 2010 season. The program will be divided into three levels. Level one is for children with little or no skating experience that need to focus on developing their skills. Level two is for children who have some basic skills but wish to improve on them while also preparing for team play for the next season. Both levels are for children ages 6-15. Snow cubs (ages 3-5) is also available for the younger new skater. Full equipment is required and is available for loan (Excluding Skates) for the first 45 players that register with full payment. Players and parents are required to attend an organizational meeting prior to the first skate at the Arctic Coliseum.  Equipment will be distributed to players and necessary paperwork will be completed at this meeting.

Mini Mite through Midget Divisions.  The emphasis is on a low-keyed, fun program that provides for the continuing development of individual and team hockey skills.  There will be eleven (11) or twelve (12) ice times for each team (please see below). The individual coaches will determine the use of each ice time, based on CHA approval. All players will be evaluated for team placement. Individuals at each level, who do not have skills required for team placement, will be referred to the Learn to Play Hockey program.  Please note that the new USA Hockey age divisions are in effect for the spring season.  Evaluation sessions are scheduled by team divisions, which are based on the birth year of the player.  Players should select the evaluation session that includes their birth year.  All evaluations will be held at the Arctic Coliseum.  Full equipment is required.

Mite through Midget Divisions.  CHA Travel programs are designed for the very skilled player and require a high level of commitment from players and parents.  Per 1998 MAHA ruling, A level teams are limited to first year players.  Travel tryouts are scheduled by team division, which is based on birth year of the player.  All tryouts will be held at the Arctic Coliseum.  Full equipment is required and a fee will be charged for each session. Girls 14U

The Chelsea Lightening Girls Program was revived during the 2009-2010 season. The team will continue to skate during the spring and summer and will roster a team for the 2010-2011 season.
